We heed the violence around, people getting killed and
shall we remain callous? The word of God (Ps. 11:5) tells us “the
lover of violence He hates.” If this is happening around us we too
are answerable. It is said: Your own welfare is at stake when your
neighbor’s house is on fire. Let’s do something or else the fire and
brimstone might also be rained on us as happened at Sodom and Gomorrah.
First of all, God tells us “thou shall not kill” (Ex.
20:13). And God’s word is infallible, can’t lie nor be mistaken. That
means doing away with killings, death penalty and war. Can you pay
for one life which is priceless? God alone is the author of life. We
ought not play god whether in the political arena or in an operating room
trying to decide over life and death of people. Only God has that
power.
“You are the temple of God and the Spirit of God
dwells in you. If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy
him” (1 Cor. 3:16).
