As little children

Jesus had said:  “Unless you change and become like little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 18:3).  Unless you remain simple and open to the truth, you cannot enjoy inner peace.

The little child asks questions.   With all the violence, the terrorism, wars, the suicide bombings and extra-judicial killings, we may ask the question:  Do the perpetrators go straight to heaven?  Are they going to be met in heaven by several virgins as some allege, if they so sacrifice for a holy war?  What is a holy war?    Ask...as a little child does.  Even Chinese lore says:  It is shameful to ask a question but it is more shameful not to ask a question.  If you never ask (seek or knock to obtain advice or solutions), you never learn.  (cf. Lk. 11:1-13).

Amidst the conflicting ideas of our world today, which one is true?  Ask, seek and knock to find out.  Jesus, who is God all-merciful could not be mistaken or lying when He said: “Everyone who asks, receives, everyone who seeks, finds, and to him who knocks, it shall be opened” (Lk. 11:10).  Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, enlightens and guides us on the pathways of peace to our heavenly home, while we endeavor to show mercy and compassion to our less fortunate brothers and sisters in God’s world.
