Wrong Motivations

Amid a world too much oriented towards making money we ought to shed some light lest it continue in a wrong direction. Besides, making money your top aim will lead you to many errors and mistakes tending towards a worsening crescendo.  One famous author (Robert Townsend) of the book, ‘Up the Organization’ had a correct analysis on this very point.  In the page titled ‘family baggage’ he spoke on it this way: “The worst wives (from the standpoint of the effect on their husbands) in my experience are the overly ambitious ones.  They seem to be constantly after their husbands to make more money.  They don’t understand that money, like prestige, if sought directly, is almost never gained.  It must come as a byproduct of some worthwhile objective or result which is sought and achieved for its own sake

The Christian gospel precisely says it this way: “Set your hearts on the kingdom of God and on his righteousness and all other things will be given you as well.  So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Mt. 6:33).
